JWWA invited delegates from overseas water associations and organized the international events at the General Assembly & Research Conference held on 25 - 27 October, 2017 in Takamatsu. 14 guests from 7 associations and IWA participated in the events. (List of overseas guests)
1. International Water Forum (Thursday, 26 October, 14:00~17:40)
The International Water Forum on “Adaptation Strategy for Climate Change -Toward Sustainable Water Resource Management-” was co-organized by Japan Water Works Association (JWWA), Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) and Japan National Young Water Professionals (Japan-YWP). About 100 people attended this forum.
In this year, MHLW delivered a keynote speech, then Takamatsu city and 5 organizations (Korea, Chinese Taiwan, India, Australia, IWA) made presentations about their initiatives against climate change. After that, speakers had the panel session facilitated by Japan-YWP and shared valuable information with audience.
2. Water Associations Meeting (Thursday, 26 October, 9:30~12:05)
On the morning of 26 October, JWWA organized the “Water Associations Meeting” to exchange opinions, activity reports and possible cooperation among associations.
3. Other Events
Overseas guests also attended the Opening Ceremony of JWWA General Assembly & Research Conference as invited guests and participated in the Takamatsu city tour including Goten water treatment plant.
